The mainstay of a provincial auctioneer, this market has changed enormously over the years with the traditional “brown” furniture out of favour with today's buyers, but if it is of high quality and in good condition then the market is still very strong.

The “hot” market is the designer furniture from Scandinavia in the 1960/80’s as well as oak furniture from Yorkshire firms, such as the “Man” furniture from Mouseman, Rabbitman and Squirrelman. Another interesting subject are antique rugs and carpets where we have had some very good results over the last year. A highlight for the saleroom team was the honour of being asked by Holy Trinity Church in Hull to auction some redundant furniture from the church.

We sell in both our Antique and Fine Art sales as well as the regular Victorian and Home Furnishing auctions, depending on where we think the vendor will achieve the highest return.
