Dee Atkinson and Harrisons Antique and Fine Art Auction on the 27th April 2012 contains almost 550 lots and commences at 9:45am with a larger than average silver section of over 100 lots. The highlight of this section is a large Freedom of the Borough of Rotherham enamelled casket presented in 1927 to Alderman Aixlewood and containing the original illuminated scroll, expected to realise £1400 - £1800. There are a number of tea sets dating from 1808 to 1938 estimated at £500 to £1000 and numerous other lots including condiment sets, bon-bon dishes, vinaigrettes, flatware, candelabra, vases and a very impressive 1912 billiards presentation trophy.

Princess Elizabeth Doll Creates Interest

The Militaria, Classic Toy and Sporting Auction on the 24th March received national media attention thanks to the inclusion of a rare German doll of Princess Elizabeth produced in 1929 when she was only 3 ½ years old. The manufacturers Schoenau and Hoffmeister sought an endorsement from Buckingham Palace but this was refused as the Royal Family felt the doll made the young princess look rather chubby, and it never went into full production. It sold for a mid estimate £320 at the auction, perhaps also helped by being sold in Queen Elizabeth’s diamond jubilee year.
