These auctions are our most regular sales taking place every two or three weeks, depending on the timing of our specialised auctions and are held on a Friday with the auction commencing, normally, at 10 am. Viewing is the day before although the auction goes live on the internet the week before.
The type of goods offered here are a real mixture, starting with garden furniture and ornaments, through recent white goods to tools. We then move onto mixed ceramics, paintings and prints, collectable ceramics, interesting collectors’ items, jewellery and silver. The last section relates to carpets and furniture.
These are very interesting auctions, ideal for young couples furnishing their first home, for growing families, for collectors of retro furniture and for the general trade. In this auction we occasionally have “sleepers”, the term used in the trade for something that we have missed for some reason or another. This could be an usual rug; like the Persian wool rug that had graced St. Nicholas Church, Wetwang, alter steps for many years. Surplus to requirements, worn and bent in the shape of the steps it was spotted by several rug dealers on the internet and sold for £2,830 (including premium).
On average 45% of these auctions are sold to internet bidders!
